The failure of drawing die is mainly adhesive wear and abrasive wear, and adhesive wear is the main reason. Therefore, the selected die materials must have high wear resistance and adhesion resistance, and sufficient strength. The thickness of the sheet metal, the size and shape of the drawing parts and the size of the production lot should also be taken into consideration.
(1) die materials for deep drawing (deep drawing steel sheet and copper and aluminum alloy)
When the production volume is small, T8 and T10 steel can be used for cylindrical shallow drawing parts with simple shape. CrWMn and 9Mn2V are used for small and medium complex parts with complex shape.
When mass production or production volume is large, Cr12MoV is selected.
When the production volume is very large, cemented carbide or steel bonded carbide is selected.
(two) die material for heavy haul deep drawing (deep drawing, deep drawing and thinning).
T10 and CrWMn are available for small batch production.
Cr12MoV and GM steel should be selected when the production volume is large. The strength and toughness of GM steel are higher than that of high speed steel and Cr12MoV, and the resistance to adhesion and abrasive wear resistance is obviously better than that of the matrix steel and Cr12MoV, and it has been well applied in the drawing die.
When the production volume is very large, the cemented carbide or steel bonded carbide is considered.
(three) deep drawing die material for stainless steel, high nickel alloy steel and heat resistant steel plate.
When drawing such materials, adhesion and napping are easy to occur. The preferred mould material is aluminum bronze.
When the production batch is small, aluminum bronze and T10A (hard chromium plating) can be used. When the hard chromium plating is applied, the coating should not be too thick to prevent spalling when deep drawing.
When the production volume is large, aluminum bronze, Cr12MoV and Cr12Mo1V1 (surface nitriding) are used.
When the production lot is large, hard alloy is selected.
(four) drawing die material for large drawing parts and automobile panels.
Alloy cast iron or high strength ductile iron can be used. The spheroidal graphite cast iron can be immersed in the lubricating oil, the graphite in the tissue has the function of self lubrication. It can effectively reduce the friction in the drawing, and the cost is low and easy to be processed.
High strength ductile iron can be quenched by dual medium delay cooling martensite, so as to obtain higher strength and toughness, and the hardness is 55~58HRC. The mold is preheated and then heated to 880~900 C, and the air is pre cooled first, then the salt water is quenched to about 550 C, then it is turned into oil cooling. When the temperature of the mold is reduced to about 250 degrees C, the heat oil in 180~200 C is kept for 2~3 hours, and then the oil temperature is reduced to about 170 degrees C and 5~7 is small, and then into the air cooling.
